Methodology
Litecoin Register records how much Litecoin (LTC) publicly known organizations hold and where each figure comes from. A figure is published only with a source, a date and a method.
What a record contains
Each holder has an id that never changes and appears in all of its URLs. Its record holds a history of reported figures. Each figure has:
as_of: the date the balance applies to, often earlier than the date it was published;amount_ltc: the balance in whole LTC, as a decimal number;method: how the figure was obtained (see below);source_ids: one or more cited documents, each with a URL and the date it was accessed.
A record can also have a file of attributed addresses.
The current holding is the figure with the latest as_of date. The JSON Schema defines every field.
Categories

- Centralized exchange
- Investment product
investment_product - An exchange-traded fund (ETF), exchange-traded product (ETP), trust or other fund whose shares are backed by LTC. The figure is the LTC the product holds, not its sponsor’s own holdings.

- Public company
public-company: A company whose shares are publicly listed. - Private company
private-company: A company whose shares are not publicly listed. - Mining company
mining-company: A company that runs its own Scrypt mining hardware and holds LTC, including coins it mined, on its balance sheet.
- Public company

miner - A mining pool that mines Litecoin, usually alongside Dogecoin, identified by the tag it writes into the blocks it mines. The figure is the LTC it mined and has not spent. Mining companies are listed under Company treasuries.
- Mining pool
mining-pool: A pool identified by the tag in the blocks it mines. The figure is the coins it mined that remain unspent.
- Mining pool
- Government
government - A national or local government body that holds LTC, either as a reserve or as funds seized through legal process.

- Layer 2
layer-2: A network built on Litecoin that locks LTC in its channels or contracts. - Extension block
extension-block: A Litecoin protocol extension, such as MWEB, that holds LTC moved into it. - Cross-chain protocol
cross-chain-protocol: A protocol that holds native LTC to swap it with assets on other blockchains. - Wrapped token
wrapped-token: A token on another blockchain backed by LTC held in reserve. - Collectible
collectible: Physical coins or other collectibles funded with LTC.
- Layer 2
Methods
- Proof of reserves
proof_of_reserves - The holder proves its on-chain balances cryptographically, usually with an independent check of what it owes customers.
- Regulatory filing
regulatory_filing - A figure from a filing with a regulator or legislature, or from audited financial statements.
- Court record
court_record - A figure from a court order, indictment or other court document.
- Self-reported
self_reported - Published by the holder itself, in a press release, factsheet or on its website, without independent verification.
- On-chain attribution
on_chain_attribution - The combined balance of addresses linked to the holder. It usually understates the full holding.
- Third-party estimate
third_party_estimate - An estimate by an analytics firm, journalist or researcher, without on-chain proof.
Attributed addresses
For on-chain attribution figures, Litecoin Register publishes the addresses whose balances are added up, so the figure can be checked on a block explorer. Each holder's addresses are in a separate file, /data/addresses/{id}.csv, linked from its sources. An address belongs to at most one holder, so no balance is counted twice. The register's address scanner keeps the lists current:
- Mining pools: the addresses paid the block reward in blocks that carry the pool's tag. The pool's holding is the part of those coins that has not been spent.
- Other holders: addresses the holder has published, such as a proof-of-reserves list, or addresses a named third party has linked to it.
Each file has three columns: address, label (what the address is used for) and attribution, which records who linked it to the holder:
- Self-disclosed
self_disclosed - The holder published the address itself, for example in a proof-of-reserves list.
- Third party
third_party - A named third party linked the address to the holder.
- Inferred
inferred - Litecoin Register linked the address to the holder, for example from the tag a mining pool writes into its blocks.
Records give the number of addresses as address_count and the file's URL as urls.addresses_csv.
USD values
Every figure is recorded in LTC. The LTC/USD toggle at the top of each page shows US-dollar values based on the daily prices in /data/prices/ltc-usd.csv (4,926 days, 2013-04-28 to 2026-10-28):
- A single figure is valued at the price on its own
as_ofdate. - A total is valued at the price on the newest date among the figures it adds up.
- In USD mode, charts show the value every day: the LTC held that day times that day's price.
- If a day has no price, the most recent earlier price is used. Figures dated before the first price have no USD value.
Hovering over a USD figure shows the LTC amount, price and date behind it.
How totals are computed
Totals add each holder’s latest reported figure. Holders report on different dates and by different methods, so a total is an estimate rather than a balance on a single day. Some coins may be counted twice, for example a fund’s LTC held in custody at an exchange.
Fixture records
Records with is_fixture: true are fictional placeholders used to build the site. They cite example.com-style source URLs and, for governments, ISO user-assigned jurisdiction codes (XA–XZ). They must not be cited.
Machine access and crawling
The site allows all search engines and AI crawlers (robots.txt). Every HTML page embeds schema.org JSON-LD and links to its JSON and Markdown versions with <link rel="alternate">. The index for language models is at /llms.txt, and the full register in one Markdown file is at /llms-full.txt. URLs and field names are versioned; a breaking change gets a new /api/v2/ path.
Citing the register
Cite the holder's page URL and the figure's as_of date, for example: “Litecoin Register, entity example-id, holding as of 2026-09-30.” Where possible, also cite the primary source linked on the page.
Disclaimer
Litecoin Register publishes information for general reference only. It is not investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold Litecoin or any security or fund. Figures come from holders’ own reports, regulatory filings, proof-of-reserves reports and the register’s on-chain analysis. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and are provided as is, without warranty of any kind; the site and its data may be unavailable or late at any time. Check the primary source before relying on a figure.
Listing a holder does not mean the holder has reviewed or endorsed its figures. On-chain figures cover only the addresses linked to a holder and usually understate its full holding. USD values convert each figure at a daily reference price for its date; they are not the price at which the coins could be sold. Names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify holders.
To report a wrong or missing figure, contact @litecoinfan456 on X, with a link to the source if there is one.
Updates and availability
The register checks its sources about every six hours and publishes a figure when it changes. A holder's figure is only as recent as its latest report, and many holders report weekly, monthly or quarterly; every figure shows the date it applies to. Updates can stop for a time when a source changes its format or goes offline.
Published figures can change. Holders restate their reports, sources correct errors, and the register links new addresses to holders and fixes its own mistakes, so earlier figures and totals may be revised without notice. Holders are added when a reliable source appears and can be removed when one stops.
Litecoin Register is a free service run on a best-effort basis. There is no guarantee of uptime, update frequency or support, and the site may be slow, unavailable or out of date at any time. Programs reading the data should cache it: it changes at most every six hours, so fetching more often gains nothing.
